Installing a heatsink?

I am ordered an OEM amd athlon 64 x2 3800 and i am slightly brand new to installing processors. so i bought a heatsink and fan but i would close to to know the proper way to install it adjectives so i dont make any mistakes.



adjectives i really need to know is where on earth to apply the paste...on the cpu and heatsink?



i know i apply it on the cpu but do i spread it adjectives over the CPU?



please help

u can ... but really if u only just put a spot in the center it will mush out appropriate enaff ... its hard to mess up ... the worst piece to watch out for is that u draw from the sink on and secured ryt so its not hung up on somthing and not making good contact ...
No requirement to spread it, but you can. If you don't, make sure there's adequate to squeeze over the material when the heatsink is attached.
You didn't mention what brand of heatsink/fan you are using. Retail AMD CPU's come beside heatsink/fan and aren't too difficult to install. There is a thermal pad on the bottom of the unsullied heatsink/fan.



I prefer to remove the thermal pad and use Artic Silver 5. They also put on the market a cleaning and purifier product that is flawless.
