installing different HDD?

I brought a contemporary HDD but it is a SATA HDD. I installed a SATA PCI card...How do i get my workstation to recognise the new HDD so i can nouns my operating system?

To set up the SATA drive as a boot driveand install XP.

1. Enable SATA controller in motherboard BIOS. Read motherboard almanac for instructions.

2. Disconnect all PATA firm drives from the motherboard. XP will install to PATA drive by default if you don't.

3. Install diskette drive contained by the computer.

4. Set CD/DVD drive as first boot device in BIOS. Read motherboard almanac for instructions.

5. Start the XP install process, watch the bottom of the peak for the F6 prompt to load SATA drivers.

6.Insert SATA driver diskette contained by the drive, at F6 prompt, follow

instructions to install driver off the diskette. Remove when adjectives files

copied

7. Complete XP install.

8. Set SATA drive as first boot device in BIOS.

9. Reconnect PATA drives.

10. You're done.
progress into your BIOS and set the hard drive
You may enjoy to assign the drive in the bios as 1st boot device.
